We are listing Kayo on behalf of Julie Boulter, who has provided training and fostering to several SAFE horses. Kayo is the product of a CBER rescue mare that she took on last year, not knowing the mare was pregnant. Kayo is currently 5 1/2 months old.
Kayo is halter-broke and has had regular foot care - three trims so far. He is up-to-date with worming and vaccinations (I need to check which ones he's had). He is most likely quarab (1/4 arab and 3/4 quarter horse). He is very friendly and curious and has been handled since birth. He leads and will move away from pressure. He will stand to be groomed.
Update (10/12/08):
Kayo was weaned today, and made the short trip over to the SAFE farm where he is going to be staying. His pasture mates are Ariel and Biscotti -- who were both weaned from their dams today as well. The weanling band is settling down after a somewhat traumatic day of running through hot tape and mistaking nearly cows for mom...
Update (12/14/2008):
Kayo was gelded on Dec 6, 2008. The procedure went well, although he does have some swelling, so he is being treated with antibiotics. The video posted above (and again here) was taken during one of his "forced exercise" sessions -- which is an important part of the recovery process from the gelding procedure.
