At the end of every year, SAFE looks back at all the great volunteers and has to make the difficult decision of who to recognize as Volunteer of the Year. We have so many people that give their time, energy, love, compassion, and support to SAFE. This past year we had one person that really stood out. Please celebrate with us in honoring Ann Amort as 2014 Volunteer of the Year!
Ann has been volunteering with SAFE for over 2 1/2 years. She is one of the most dependable and hard working people that we have. Every Friday morning, Ann is at the barn to feed and do chores. She has even braved snow storms to get there when no one else was able too. Ann is so committed to the horses (and SAFE) that she has worked several Friday shifts all on her own. She never complained but only politely asked, in her soft spoken way, if we could find some help for her.
It wasn’t until this year that we truly started to utilize Ann’s full potential. She is both an accomplished rider and horsewoman. You can find Ann doing groundwork with several horses at least once a week. Her calmness and gentle nature translate perfectly with Terry’s training program. Ann joined the SAFE Volunteer Rider program. She has attended numerous clinics to further her knowledge in both liberty work and riding. Which greatly benefit all the SAFE horses. Her dedication to improving the lives of our horses has had a major impact on many equine lives.
So Ann, we thank you. We thank you for all that you do. We thank you for who you are and we thank you for what you give to all of us at SAFE. We hope that you remain a volunteer for many many more years and that you continue to be the great person you are. Congratulations to an immensely deserving person!
