As many of you know, SAFE is in a period of transition following the recent resignation of Jaime Taft. During this transition, we want to assure everyone that SAFE will continue to be a vital presence in our community. Upholding the commitments that SAFE has made to its horses and to its community is very important to all of us. Even as we undergo change, we have the strength and the resources to continue SAFE’s mission, to care for our horses, and to move SAFE in a positive direction.

The stewardship of SAFE will remain in the care of the strong and dedicated leadership of its Board of Directors. These individuals have been involved with SAFE on the day-to-day management level for a long time, and they have been instrumental in the growth and continuing success of the organization. Even as SAFE experiences change, the management structure will remain essentially the same.

Our first priority at this time is our horses. Thanks to the hard work of several individuals and the outpouring of support from our community, the SAFE horses that were not already in foster care have been placed in excellent temporary accommodations. They will receive the same care, handling, and ongoing training that they are accustomed to.

We are actively pursuing potential sites for a new permanent location, and the results of our search are promising. We will continue to update you as our plans develop.

We recognize and understand that, as our supporters, you likely have many questions and concerns about the changes that are taking place. We plan to host a Q&A at some point very soon to address these concerns. We truly appreciate your patience and support as we take steps forward.

Meanwhile, HeART of the Horse is just around the corner on May 12, and even through the changes of the last week, our excitement about this event continues to grow. The caliber of the fine art and other items we’ll be offering in our auction are absolutely top notch, and we have an incredible evening planned. We hope that you will join us at this event, as it truly will be a celebration of what SAFE has been able to accomplish with the help of its amazing supporters.
