As part of our educational opportunities for volunteers, we are excited to host The Washington State Animal Response Team (WASART) at SAFE next month for an afternoon of learning how they help animals in need.
WASART is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit all-volunteer organization that helps companion animals and livestock out of immediate crisis and dangerous situations.
WASART is trained to help in situations such as if your horse is trapped in a well, your dog falls over a cliff, or your community needs help sheltering animals for short-term issues, like threat of fire. WASART does not self-deploy, and the team must be called out by an owner or an agency, such as the fire department, sheriff’s office, or emergency management.
We are extending our invitation to the general public as well as our volunteer base. Please join us for a presentation lead by Jeff Dahl, DVM, Technical Rescue Committee Chari/Admin and WASART Technical Team members to learn how their program performs along with hearing about rescue stories and a demonstration of their tripod lift with their manikin horse Joey.
The presentation will happen on Saturday, September 7th from 12–3. We hope to see you there!
