Mesquite shares a fence line, as well as turnout, with an Arab/QH cross. Mesquite gets four carefully measured feedings around the clock to maintain good gut health. He’s experienced a number of colic issues and this procedure is keeping colic at bay. Both Cory and Melissa trail ride out of the property, sometimes daily. They are building a covered arena so they can ride more when the weather is bad.
Here is what Mesquite’s owner has to say about this special guy:
“I adopted him about 8 years ago. He was a very neglected horse, starved (Almost) to death. I cannot thank SAFE and Joel Conner enough for helping to bring this guy into my life! All my wife and I do are ride trails, trails and more trails. Mesquite really loves to get out and explore. My wife’s horse loves it so much that if you even point her to the trailer she starts dashing and hops in! We are fortunate to have miles of trails right here for those quick evening rides, but we can also trailer to miles of trails within 30 min of our home. We have put on (according to my database I keep) 54 rides so far in 2024. Mesquite is Arab. Super sensitive, and I have found he is pretty much a one person horse. He accepts me, we are a pair that work well together, but other people he tends to be very un-trusting and pissy with. Even my own wife who cares for him half the time has difficulty interacting with him. Mesquite and I are best friends. We trust each other, and work well together even in those (frequent) “Dicey” moments. He will listen and is happy to perform for me, and in turn I treat him respectively, as the majestic beast he is. I cannot imagine life without him. Thank you SAFE, for bringing us together, and Joel for getting him started for me! Joel, you would be amazed how far he has come in his training, versatility, and capability!”
