Bill Conquergood joined SAFE in July 2022, a discovery that not only introduced him to the organization’s mission but also led him to Sparky, the love of his life.

Growing up, in Redmond just down the street from SAFE, Bill didn’t realize the organization existed until a search for equine rescue barns (and photos of Sparky) brought him to their doors. Although he didn’t grow up around horses or donkeys, his passion for animals was evident from an early age through his experience showing golden retrievers in 4‑H.

After a 30-year career at AT&T negotiating roaming agreements worldwide, Bill now focuses on giving back to his community. In addition to his work with SAFE, he drives patients for Fred Hutch Cancer Research and has participated in Obliteride for the past nine years, helping to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. He also served on the alumni board at Central Washington University.

With his retirement travels, Bill keeps a lookout for donkeys around the world but no one will replace Sparky.
