We love it when things work out even better than planned!
Mirana is thriving in foster with SAFE alumni Bliss, and we couldn’t be happier! When Bliss suddenly lost her gelding, Buddy, to colic, SAFE jumped into action to ensure she wouldn’t be left without a companion. As many of you may remember, Bliss is blind, so having the right friend is essential to her well-being.
Our first attempt was to introduce her to Clarissa and Tulip, who were nearby in foster with Manuela and alumni Freya. They had originally moved to make room for Valentine’s herd at SAFE. Sadly, we discovered a mass on Clarissa, and she had to be euthanized. Meanwhile, Tulip struggled to bond with Bliss, as Bliss couldn’t interpret normal horse body language due to her blindness.
Then came Mirana. The moment she stepped off the trailer, she exuded a sense of calm and peace, and her connection with Bliss was immediate. The updates couldn’t be better! Foster mom Emily shares: “Mirana is doing great. Calm and no problems at all. She’s my buddy.” The girls have enjoyed some time in the pasture, and even had a good roll together!
We LOVE this for both Bliss and Mirana! When our fosters enhance a horse’s quality of life, it’s a win for everyone. Mirana’s quiet and gentle nature is exactly what Bliss needed. Her respectful and well-mannered interactions are a testament to the incredible training she received from Meghan N. Thanks to Meghan’s dedication and hours of trust-building, Mirana was ready for this role.
