We are deeply saddened to share the news that Autumn has passed away following a tragic accident in which she suffered a broken leg due to a kick. While such incidents are rare, they are an unfortunate risk when horses are turned out in herds.
The team at Freedom Reigns is heartbroken, as are we. Their sanctuary provided Autumn with the incredible opportunity to live freely on her own terms, surrounded by others. It’s a unique and special place, and we are grateful that Autumn had so many happy days there.
In the five years managing Freedom Reigns and caring for over 500 horses, this is only the third time their manager has experienced a loss like this. It is devastating to know that Autumn’s end was not peaceful, but we can take comfort in knowing she had a life full of freedom, companionship, and joy during her time at the sanctuary.
We will choose to remember Autumn this way—with the sun shining on her and sparrows landing gently on her back.
