Our volunteer of the month for May is Caiti Raimer. Caiti is one of the volunteers at the SAFE farm in Monroe, but she’s done a lot more for SAFE than just cleaning stalls and grooming horses. This past November, Caiti’s passion for horses led her to write an article on the racing industry which was published in the Monroe Monitor. And during her spring break this year, Caiti spent her spare time talking to people about SAFE and collected $324 in donations!
Meet Caiti:
I have volunteered at S.A.F.E since about 2009; since Equifriends where I had been volunteering previously closed down and I needed a new place to have fun. I have always loved horses but never been able to have one of my one. S.A.F.E became like my second family over the years and satisfied my horsey fix. I loved the people and horses who I have seen come through. I’ve seen a lot of stories that have inspired me; Stories of courage and second chances. Lil’ Miss was the first horse I worked with. And Aiden and Rhythm were the first horses I fell in love with; Aiden with his powdered sugar butt, and Rhythm with his awesome horsey personality. So many horses I’ve been lucky to meet. Outside of S.A.F.E I’m a student at Everett Community college for veterinary medicine pre-requisites. I enjoy photography as a hobby and the horses have made it into many of my best photos over the years.
