Please join me in congratulating our May Volunteer of the Month, Emily Bullard!
When Emily was nominated for Volunteer of the Month, SAFE Development Director Bonnie Hammond has this to say: Emily is one of my absolute best go-to gals when it comes to “customer service” type stuff, like the horse show office or registration/check out for the auction. She’s quick and smart, with a great attitude. She’s one of those people who can figure things out easily, makes good decisions, and has a good instinct for when to ask questions, which I personally think is a sign of high intelligence. I would be very happy to see Emily as Volunteer of the Month!”
Here is a look at Emily’s experience with SAFE, in her own words:
How long have you been volunteering with SAFE?
It has been a couple of years. I think it was the first show at Bridle Trails. I worked in the show booth.
What made you decide to volunteer with SAFE?
It seemed like a very reputable organization that truly wanted to help the horses. It was organized and the only rescue at the time that seemed to have all the right stuff.
Who is your favorite SAFE horse?
I think they are all my favorites. Each one is unique and special it his or her way. If I had to absolutely choose one it would have to be Little Miss. I got a chance to spend time with her before she went to greener pastures. I even got to ride her. She was a really special girl. Plus, I just have a soft spot for OTTB mares.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself or your experience with SAFE?
SAFE is an amazing organization. Throughout the years it has ALWAYS been about the horses. I have never met a better organization. Every volunteer is there to pitch in and do their very best. We always have a wonderful time doing even the hardest work, such as putting in paddocks. I have met some of the best people on earth through SAFE. I have also had the pleasure of meeting some of the most amazing horses. They share their courage, strength, love and determination with all who have the honor of being in their presence.
Thank you Emily, your contributions help make SAFE a stronger organization.
Congratulations to Emily! I first met Emily while helping her organize the tack sale SAFE had several years ago. Since then, she’s been a fixture at every SAFE event. We are so fortunate to have people of her quality in our community. Thanks for being there Emily!
I met Emily at the 2008 Horse Show at Bridle Trails & was impressed with her ability to just jump in and make things work. She’s one of those people I’m happy to have in my personal community and SAFE is lucky to have her as a supporter. Congrats, Emily, you totally ROCK!
