Minor Child Volunteer Agreement

The minimum age for volunteering at SAFE on a regular chore shift is 16 years old. Minors ages 8 to 15 can volunteer if accompanied every time by a parent or legal guardian who is also volunteering. The parent or legal guardian will be held fully responsible for the child’s safety and their behavior while on SAFE property.

BARN RULES GOVERNING MINORS

The Minor in question must be capable of following all of the barn rules listed below with parental guidance.

Failure to follow these rules, or any other unsafe behavior around horses, will be grounds for immediate termination as a SAFE volunteer.

    • • Minors must stay in close proximity (10 ft or less) with their parent/guardian at all times.
    • • Minors may not enter paddocks or pastures when horses are present.
    • • Minors may not enter a stall with a horse in it, no exceptions.
    • • Minors must pay attention to their surroundings and stay well out of the way of horses being moved, as well as horses being trained, groomed, or with a vet or farrier.
    • • No running in the barn aisle, or misuse of SAFE equipment or tools.
    • • No excessive noise, gestures, or behavior that might alarm a horse.

    In signing this agreement, I acknowledge that I have read the foregoing Minor Child Volunteer Agreement and understand and will adhere to the Barn Rules Governing Minors as outlined above.
