Nova has had enough of this rain and Western Washington Weather –— she has temporarily relocated to the East Side to foster with Blair, Bijou, and Bear. Blair’s ‘R&B Ranch’ is already known to us as a phenomenal place to spend time (just asked Bijou, who loved it so much she moved in permanently!) so we are incredibly grateful to Blair for opening up her home to another SAFE horse. Nova has a large space to herself, plus an even bigger turnout with her new friends.
Here’s what Blair has to say about it: “She is a touch of SASS, Curious and Energetic! She is figuring out what life is like with wide open spaces, boundaries and views!!! I wanted you all to know Nova is doing well and The Matriarch Bijou is keeping her company and also in line ”
We have been gradually reintroducing Nova to the saddle throughout the winter, but she’s been making it clear that she dislikes it, and her behavior has worsened instead of improving. While she has always been a pushy mare, her attitude improved significantly after her spay last year. However, saddle work is triggering old behavioral issues, and we’d rather see her happy as a companion horse than struggling in a role that isn’t right for her. Fortunately, her move to Ellensburg is a great fit—not only will she have a better lifestyle, but the dry, windy climate will be beneficial for her summer bug allergies that plague her here on this side of the mountains.
