Congratulations and thank you to our November volunteer of the Month, Tiffany!
Tiffany has been volunteering with SAFE for almost 2 years. She started as a special events volunteer but quickly became much much more. Tiffany has been directly involved in coordinating events for SAFE. She has organized Open Houses at the barn, Fill the Trailer, procurement committee for Heart of the Horse, helped with Spring into Summer, and is a major factor for events that take place with SAFE. However that’s not even close to all Tiffany does. Her job with Microsoft allows her to offer SAFE unique opportunities. Anything from matching donations to having SAFE wrap presents at the Microsoft store. Tiffany has brought to fruition the idea of selling SAFE gear at all Open Houses and as many events that she can. She is a huge supporter of SAFE herself and is always promoting our mission. Tiffany has added so so much to the SAFE team. We are extremely excited to see what she and SAFE can accomplish in the upcoming year!
Here is a little more about Tiffany in her own words:
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My husband and I live in Redmond with our Carolina Box Turtle (who may be older than we are) and until recently, our tuxedo cat rescued from MEOW. We enjoy traveling, which has included guided horseback riding in locations across the US, Mexico, and the Caribbean. I love sports, particularly baseball and closely followed by football, but generally I’m either working at my day job as a Business Program Manager, or brainstorming fundraising ideas and event planning for SAFE.
How long have you been volunteering with SAFE?
Just over 2 years – since Oct 2013
What made you decide to volunteer with SAFE?
Was looking for animal-related volunteer opportunities on the Eastside, found SAFE through an online search and volunteered to help out with procurement for the annual auction, that turned into volunteering as SAFE’s Events Coordinator, which I love. Most of my SAFE work is done on the computer or out working with the public, but I love getting up to Safe Harbor to visit the horses and see the great work of our awesome volunteer crew.
Who is your favorite SAFE horse?
Lola – her recent adoption is bittersweet. Love that she’s found her forever home but so miss seeing her in the barn.
Is there anything else you would like to share about yourself or your experiences?
While I’m not a regular rider, I’ve always loved being around horses and began riding ponies at camps in New York as a child. Over the years, I’ve continued to take trail rides while on vacations, and now love being able to see the SAFE horses on a regular basis. I’m so proud of the work SAFE does and love introducing new people to SAFE by way of community events and awareness. I’m also thrilled that my employer matches both my monetary donations and my volunteer hours, which helps SAFE even more.
