Boone is ADOPTED!
Boone is an 18 year old strawberry roan mini horse. He’s one of a group of four mini horses that were seized by animal control in March 2020. SAFE didn’t have space for new horses at that time, but we were able to line up a great adopter who took them all in. As they got healthy and stronger, it soon became obvious that four mini horses were more than their adopter could manage (especially at feeding time!!), so once again SAFE was asked to help. We were able to facilitate an adoption for one of the mini mares, and we took Boone into our rescue herd.
Alumni Update: Boone (Mr. Fezziweg)
Boone (now Mr. Fezziweg) was adopted from SAFE in late November 2020. His adopted family had just seen the show A Christmas Carol, and Mr. Fezziweg was the name of Scrooge’s first boss at the counting house. Mr. Fezziweg was the jolly fellow that gave the wonderful Christmas party for his staff before Scrooge turned into a jerk. So, they named him Mr. Fezziweg after the jolly guy in the story. He has been a great addition to their family. Mr. Fezziweg is a companion to their 8‑year-old Yakima reservation mare and another 25-year-old mare. The 8‑year-old mare rules the roost, and Mr. Fezziweg gets to boss around the older mare!
He is super with the little ones that come to visit and gets groomed and pampered for hours with them. He lives a great life at their property with lots of loving attention. His human family are constantly making improvements to their farm, and the horses and Mr. Fezzi benefit greatly from their care.
Alumni Update: Boone (Mr. Fezziwig)
Boone is Adopted!
Boone’s new family was looking to adopt a friend for their Yakima Reservation pony mare, Pyramid. Just before Thanksgiving, the family was able to bring him home. On his first day, the family said Pyramid kept looking at them as if to say “Do we get to keep him?! Is he staying?” The whole family was instantly in love.
Boone, now named Mr. Fezziwig, gets walks up and down the road and takes everything into stride. He gets daily turnout in a big paddock with Pyramid, but has his own little space at night. He really enjoys being groomed, especially on his neck, under his mane, and on his chest. He sure is handsome in his Santa hat photos! We are delighted to see such a wonderful match and look forward to seeing more photo shoots.
A Boone for us all!
Boone has quickly become a volunteer favorite! This sweet little guy seems to be very adaptable to different situations and loves scratches and attention, especially if you have a snack for him! We have started doing a bit of groundwork with Boone and he has taken to it very quickly. This is one smart mini. He seems to enjoy having a job and has a lot of try and interest. Boone was turned out with Amelia for about a month and they did very well together. Amelia had to teach him a bit about manners, but they seemed to coexist quite well. We’ll be introducing him to some other regular sized horses soon!
Welcome Boone!
This handsome little fella is another new addition to the SAFE family. Believe it or not, he’s already pending adoption!

Boone doesn’t play well with other minis, so he’s best suited to be a companion for a bigger horse. And if all goes well, he and one of the SAFE horses will be headed off to a great new home together! That’s all we’re going to say at the moment, but fingers crossed we’ll have some more good news to share very soon.
