ADOPTED!! by Hillary
When we met Rhythm, he was a young horse in a lot of trouble. He has an infected wound on his right rear fetlock caused by barbed wire. He was seen by our vet upon intake, who felt pretty confident that the injury could heal with proper treatment, but that Rhythm had barely escaped being crippled for life. Treating such a painful wound on a young unhandled horse was a challenge, but Rhythm was a brave lad, and in time, the wound healed cleanly. Rhythm was just a baby when he came to SAFE so we gave him the time he needed to grow up. Rhythm was adopted in 2010 by a lady with a teenage daughter named Hillary, and the two grew up together, forming a fine partnership that carries on to this day.
Alumni Update: Rhythm
Rhythm truly appears to be Hillary’s heart horse. They have been together since Hillary was 14 years old. Rhythm is enjoying semi-retired life, having nice, long days in pasture with his 28-year-old pasture mate. Hillary is finishing up her college studies this spring and occasionally rides Rhythm around the pasture. After graduation, Hillary anticipates having more time for riding and taking Rhythm on some low-key trail rides.
Alumni Update: Rhythm
What a cute selfie of these two! Rhythm and her adopter competed in low-level eventing for 10 years, but nowadays Rhythm and her pasture mate, a 27-year-old retired roping horse, enjoy their time just being horses and going on a couple of rides a week.

Here are some photos of Rhythm sent to us by Jimmy, taken in May. Very handsome horse who is doing well and by the look on his face is very happy and curious!
Congratulations, Hillary!
A long long time ago, when Hillary H was 14 years old, her mom adopted a horse named Rhythm from a rescue called SAFE. Hillary is now 21, and Rhythm’s adoption has been officially transferred to her.
Here’s what Hillary had to say about this:
“Roughly 10 years ago Rhythm became my life. My mother adopted him to be my partner in crime when I was just 14 years old. I’m so proud to say that we have officially transferred Rhythm into my name!!! I was so happy, I cried. Thank you SAFE for bringing this handsome, silly boy into my life. As much as I know I changed his path, he has changed mine for the better. ❤️”
Congratulations, Hillary and Rhythm!! We are so happy you found each other through SAFE!
Alumni Update: Rhythm
Rhythm became a SAFE horse back in 2010, surrendered into our care because of a life-threatening injury caused by barbed wire. His adopter Hillary gave us this update on her boy recently:
The first photo is of the day I brought Rhythm home from SAFE, while the second is one of Rhythm just the other day. It’s hard to believe I have had this amazing horse for going on 10 years now. Thank you SAFE for all you do and for connecting me with this handsome boy so many years ago. Rhythm was 3 turning 4 when I originally adopted him, and just this month had turned 14 years old. Crazy how time flies!
