Chris and Phoenix!
Chris Trimmer has been a SAFE volunteer for about a year now. He doesn’t do a weekly chore shift but is still an integral part of the barn. Chris is our guy with a truck. He will and does haul, transfer, carry, move just about anything that SAFE asks him to. Chris is our go-to guy for transporting horses. His meticulous attention to detail and love of horses assures us that they are in good hands whenever he is behind the wheel. Chris has picked up and delivered several grain orders to the barn AND even carried many a bag up the stairs to help put them away. This summer he even hauled horses to the SAFE Benefit Horse Show, and even though his truck broke down halfway between Woodinville and Auburn, he still got the show horses to Donida safely and on time! But don’t think Chris is a one truck pony. No indeed, he is a big part of our facilities team too. He helps maintain the equipment onsite and is able to answer most of our questions. Chris and his family have been incredibly helpful at work parties and with giving so much of their time to SAFE.
Here is a little more about Chris:
Chris is from Ohio and currently lives in Seattle, where he works for Microsoft. He grew up with horses through most of his life. He has cared for and ridden horses for many years. Chris has been volunteering with SAFE since December of 2014 and he has made a huge impact in this amount of time. He met SAFE through the Microsoft Give Campaign at the Issaquah campus and knew he had a lot to offer the organization. Although it’s hard for most volunteers to pick out their favorite horse, you can tell that Chris has a soft spot for Phoenix. Anytime he is at the barn, Chris will spend a few moments talking quietly and giving scratches to Phoenix. His daughter has also come to love the big blond beauty. SAFE has been able to do so much with Chris’s help and we are lucky to have him on the team!
