Our mini donkeys, Sparky and Rojo, live the good life fostering at our friend and volunteer Jackie’s place alongside her menagerie, but they are still on the payroll here at SAFE as our ambassadors (alongside Sunny and Shasta, of course). As honored guests at our recent Heart of the Horse, these two littles made the trek over for a long weekend at SAFE. Seasoned pros at this point, they hop right on and off the trailer, and make themselves right at home here. It certainly didn’t hurt that a few apples from a nearby tree may have fallen into their paddock — call it a housewarming gift! Neighbors and professional rubberneckers Edward and Jacob were all eyes for our fuzzy guests, while Rojo and Sparky, in their typical donkey fashion, only had eyes for each other.
Once the event began, these two were all class, looking just about as cute as two little grey buttons as they welcomed guests and showcased what delicious grass we have on site. While Sparky has always been a social butterfly, it has taken Rojo a bit more time to warm up to people, but he could not have done a better job as a greeter.
