Volunteers are the heart and soul of SAFE. Day in, day out…the volunteers of SAFE arrive at SAFE Harbor Stables multiple times a day to care for the horses. Feed. Water. Muck. Repeat. Our volunteer program makes it possible for SAFE to help horses in need. Every day, we are grateful for the dedicated volunteers who work hard caring for our herd.
Each January, we have the pleasure of selecting one person to be recognized as “Volunteer of the Year”. This person demonstrates the highest level of commitment, reliability, and dedication to the job. Please join the SAFE Board of Directors in congratulating the 2013 Volunteer of the Year, Heather Evans-Keliher.
Heather moved to the Seattle area from Michigan a few years ago, and was looking for a volunteer opportunity to fill her spare time. She started as a morning feeder in Monroe, prior to our relocation. She was excited to return as a volunteer after we settled in our Woodinville location. Heather has always been willing to learn new skills and take on new responsibilities. She currently volunteers 3 days per week, doing AM Feeding/Chores, and assisting Barn Manager Terry Phelps. She also manages the SAFE Alumni Program, coordinating annual follow up visits with our adopted horses.
Heather’s name is engraved on a Volunteer of the Year plaque that will hang at SAFE Harbor Stables. The award was presented to Heather by SAFE President Debi Shatos at the recent Heart of the Horse fundraiser. We are pleased to recognize Heather for all of her outstanding contributions to SAFE.
Congratulations, Heather!
Special thanks to Robb Anderson of Northwest Trophy in Woodinville for donating the engraved Volunteer of the Year Plaque!
Yeah, Heather!!!!
