We know you all have been holding your breath, waiting for us to announce our 2022 Volunteer of the Year! We wanted to surprise them in person (and film it to share with everyone! No pressure ladies) and it just so happened we couldn’t get them in on the property at the same time until this week!
Watch as Kaya surprises Meghan, Trela and Monique, in their natural habitat (pounding T posts) and Sue (2021 Volunteer of the Year) passes the touch (hay/flower bouquets).
Each year our Operations Council is faced with the same difficult decision, narrowing down the Volunteer of the Year finalist. We have many volunteers who put in an incredible amount of time and hard work all for the benefit of our horses and organization and we consider ourselves very lucky to have this “problem”. It just so happens this year, we couldn’t narrow it down to just one. When we think of one of these volunteers, we think of the other two and so it was easy to choose all three.
These 3 women are a force, taking on every job in the sideways rain, heat, smoke, mud and you can hear their laughter across the property. They keep each other going with their positive attitudes and are the first to sign up to help with any project or event happening on or off the property. They work together on the Thursday Facilities Team, but they also volunteer on chore teams, as Barn Assists, Night Check, past Shift Leads, pasture management, horsemanship volunteers, and fundraise in their community. SAFE is able to accomplish goals and provide the best care possible to our horses, because of the dedication and passion from Meghan, Trela and Monique.
