…so we won’t say goodbye, we’ll just say good luck!!
It’s been our good luck and good fortune that Brittney Stewart has been part of SAFE over the course of 2013. And even though it’s time for her to move on so she can concentrate full time on B&D Sport Horses, the positive effect she has had on so many of the SAFE horses is something that we won’t forget any time soon!
Brittney came on board as SAFE’s second full time employee at the beginning of 2013, taking on the joint role of Barn Manager and Trainer at SAFE Harbor Stables. It was a dream come true for a lot of us at SAFE to have such a talented and hard working person at the barn every day, and the horses at SHS blossomed under her guidance. Brittney’s kindness and sense of humor seemed endless as she worked with our horses, no matter what sort of challenges they came up with to test her. Many of those same horses have since gone on to be adopted, and Brittney’s training and handling was key to getting them ready for their new lives.
SAFE was fortunate that Brittney offered us her services when she did because she had recently returned to horse training after a long foray into the business world. We knew from the start that she was developing her own training business while working for SAFE and that at some point in the future that training business would take up the majority of her time. That day has come, and we could not be happier for Brittney. She has developed enough of a client base to be able to devote herself fully to B&D Sport Horses, which regretfully means that she no longer has the availability to travel to SAFE Harbor to work our horses. Brittney has turned the reins over into the very capable hands of Terry Phelps, who took over Brittney’s Barn Manager position earlier in the year.
We wish Brittney the best of luck in 2014, and are very excited to see her continue to expand and grow her business. She’s still very much part of SAFE, as an adopter and a foster as well as a volunteer, because we just can’t let go of her completely! Brittney has been a crucial part of this organization over the past year, and on behalf of everyone at SAFE, Brittney, we thank you!!!
